JAMES Tierney, Elders Wagga Wagga, sold his way to victory at the National Young Auctioneers Competition last Thursday, edging out the strongest line-up ever of contestants from the eastern States.
Mr Tierney described the competition as pretty even and was thrilled but a little surprised when he was singled out as the winner.

"I didn't think there was a stand out contestant, all the boys were selling so well," he said. Mr Tierney said he spend the few weeks leading up to the Show refining his selling. "I'll be trying to keep it simple and not get carried away with too many complications," he said. Full report in The Land next week.

Many stud have reported overall sale prices to have dropped with the average prices over the sessions down on last year. Queensland studs have fared well during the week, making good prices with quality horses.
