FARM exports are forecast to increase 6pc to $26.7 billion in 2004/05, helping Australia's commodity export earnings hit a record $93.4b, according to the latest ABARE figures.

ABARE executive director Brian Fisher said crop exports were forecast to rise by 12pc to $14.5b and livestock product exports to fall slightly to $12.2b in 2004/05.

"Assuming average seasonal conditions will prevail in 2004/05, Australian farm production in volume terms is forecast to increase by 1pc in 2004/05, following an estimated rise of almost 17pc in 2003/04," Dr Fisher said.

The value of Australia's minerals and energy exports is forecast to be $63b in 2004/05, a rise of nearly 19pc from $53.1b in 2003/04.
