FERTILISER magnate Pankaj Oswal, the majority owner of fertiliser producer Burrup Holdings, has accused his Norwegian backers of reneging on a deal to convert Burrup from a public to a private company.
The claims were made in a writ lodged in the West Australian Supreme Court on Friday, The Australian Financial Review reports.
It is part of an increasingly bitter tit-for-tat battle between Mr Oswal and Burrup's 35 per cent Norwegian shareholder Yara International.
Yara launched its own Federal Court action earlier this year to stop Mr Oswal changing the status of Burrup from a public to private company.
Yara has raised concerns that the change would limit its access to information about Burrup's fertiliser plants in Western Australia's north-west, which Yara alleges are subject to cost overruns.
