PRICES didn't reach the heavens but the big crowd at last week's Virglen Co clearing sale at Bodallin, provided healthy competition for the lots offered, which saw a Case MX210 tractor (7987 hours), top the sale at $40,000.
The front wheel-assist (FWA) model was knocked down by Elders auctioneer Dean Hubbard who also sold a Cat Challenger 75C (9000hrs) tractor later for $27,000.
A JD 4650 FWA tractor with duals sold for $19,000, while a Furukawa LF150 articulated loader made $16,000.
The final tractor offered was the sort that usually attracts the label "suit collector", a Chamberlain 9G Champion complete with TPL and FEL.
It sold for $3700 and I suspect it is more likely to end up in a display than in a paddock.
A JD seeding bar with a Flexi-Coil air cart attracted a lot of interest and healthy bidding, but failed to make the reserve price.
A couple of sprayers were offered with a 24m (80ft) WEEDit spot sprayer on a Ground Glider boom making $32,000 and a 37m (120ft) Auspray 2000 boomsprayer making $15,000, while a Jen-Ell mister sold for $750.
A couple of headers were offered, with a Case 2388 and a 1042 front selling for $26,000, while a 1042 front on a trailer made $9000 and a comb trailer sold for $1550.
Grain handling machinery included a 20 tonne capacity Hobbs chaser bin which sold for $26,000, and a Cole 5:1 HD800 bin which made $8250.
The usual line-up of field bins attracted keen interest, with the two 45t Brereton bins making $7500 each, while the four 30t Brereton bins went for $4500, $4250 and two at $4000, respectively.
Other items included a five tonne Marshall MultiSpread, extended to eight tonne capacity, which made $5100, a 7m (23ft) double deck stock crate with Hobbs Hoists sold for $3700, while a set of portable sheep yards sold for $1400 and a sheep loading ramp made $1900.
A set of Hobbs Hoists sold for $450, yet two 4200L water tanks on a frame with fire-fighting pump and on a set of Hobbs Hoists also made $450.
Other items of note included a Nissan 4WD 4.2L diesel ute sold for $3700; an original model Land Cruiser ute, suitable for restoration ($1300) and a large set of hydraulic folding harrows ($2300).
Sundries included a 4500L fuel tank on a four-wheel trailer which sold for $1100; a large three cylinder air compressor with Honda motor ($1400) and a single tine trailing ripper which sold for $1050.
