THE Federal Government's grant component of the Farm Family Restart Scheme (FFRS) will be extended. Federal Agriculture Minister Warren Truss said the FFRS, introduced in December 1997, would be extended to allow eligible farmers to apply for grants up to June 30, 2000. "This is a key program for delivering improved support to farm families as well as providing advice and assistance to farmers in severe financial difficulties," he said. The earlier deadline of November 30, 1999, for re-establishment applications was set to encourage farmers to take early action about their future rather than allow their circumstances to deteriorate. pMore information: Centrelink on 132850.
