First grower delivery to CBH site

received its first grower delivery on Tuesday last week of 55 tonnes of malting barley.

CBH general manager of operations David Capper said the site would improve services to growers and increase export capacity in the Albany zone.

He said the zone had been challenged by receival capacity near

the port, which in some cases, meant growers had to travel inland to deliver to another receival point.

“We’re really excited to be opening this new site and improving our service to growers in the Albany zone as part of the network strategy and continued pursuit of an efficient and low-cost supply

chain,” Mr Capper said.

The Mirambeena site has a 140,000 tonne capacity, which is made up of two 30,000t open bulk heads and four 20,000t cells.

There is significant opportunity to increase capacity in the future.

Mr Capper said harvest was well underway in the Albany zone and the Mirambeena site had already been an asset for grain storage.

“There is also 60,000t of emergency storage adjacent to the main site, part of which has already been filled with carryover

grain, “ Mr Capper said.

“Completing the build has been challenging because of the constant rain from January through to April, when the bulk of the road works were scheduled to be done.”
