IN a surprise move, Liberal member for the seat of Durack, Barry Haase has announced he will not be contesting the coming Federal election.

Mr Haase released a statement on the weekend announcing his decision to withdraw his nomination for re-election for the seat of Durack at the September election.

Mr Haase represented the electorate of Kalgoorlie since 1998 and from 2010, the electorate of Durack.

He said it had been a pleasure and a privilege to have the opportunity to represent people from Esperance to Kununurra and thanked them for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing them.

“In announcing my retirement after 15 years of service, I trust the soon to be selected Liberal candidate for the seat of Durack will enjoy the same solid support I have received,” Mr Haase said.
