AUSTRALIA'S first shipment of Macroprotect crop protection sprays reached WA shores this week.
The new player in the spray market brings a new range of herbicides to fight weeds.
The Macroprotect range comes from Louis Dreyfus and complements its extensive selection of fertilisers already on the market in Australia.
Louis Dreyfus regional sales manager for WA Chris Puckridge said it was a great opportunity for WA farmers to take advantage of quality spray products that are already being used across the globe.
"Our product line continues to grow as we endeavour to bring high quality products from our worldwide networks at great prices," Mr Puckridge said.
"The introduction of Macroprotect gives farmers more choice when selecting their crop protection products.
"The range also complements our specialised fertiliser options, allowing us to service the different needs of farmers across WA."
Macroprotect features glyphosate, trifluralin and paraquat herbicides and will be offered on the same extended payment terms already available through Louis Dreyfus.
"This is the start of a long-term strategy to introduce new competition to the Australian market that has been in other parts of the world for at least five years," Mr Puckridge said.
"Macroprotect is already widely used with great results across South America, Asia, Africa and beyond."
The Macro Protect crop protection range adds to Louis Dreyfus' Macrofertil range released in Australia earlier this year following the purchase of Ravensdown's WA fertiliser business last year.
Louis Dreyfus is also an active player in the WA grain market and has warehouses for both fertiliser and grain at Geraldton, Albany, Esperance and Kwinana.
