HIS second bit of luck this year was how Thomas Kerse, Muntadgin, described his win of a Honda CTX200 Bushlander motorbike in Farm Weekly's recent subscriber competition.
Mr Kerse and Ms Pieke were seriously injured in a car accident last November when they ploughed into a pool of water while checking dams after an unseasonal downpour at the family farm.
"The fact we are both still walking after the accident and are expected to make full recoveries was the first bit of luck," he said.
A broken back meant Mr Kerse has only recently been able to drive again so he had to wait to collect his bike.
But on doctor's orders it will be many months before he can get in motion on two wheels so it will be up to other family members to test run the new shiny red machine.
Mr Kerse farms with his sister Lizzi and their parents Dan and Louise Kerse, whose enterprise includes a 5260 hectare cropping program, Merino sheep and Charolais-Murray Grey cross cattle.
