Medal for Boyle

30 Sep, 2004 07:00 PM

WA shearing legend Don Boyle has been awarded the WA State Training Board Medal for outstanding achievement in training.

Mr Boyle received the award at the WA Department of Education and Training Excellence presentation night.

A strong feeling among all industry members on the night was that no one deserved the award more than Mr Boyle.

With more than 40 years of shearing experience, Mr Boyle is one of the most highly respected and knowledgeable members of WA¹s rural community.

A new initiative announced earlier this year saw shearing industry and farm lobby groups band together to tackle the dramatic decline in the number of skilled workers in the industry.

Mr Boyle is an accredited trainer with TAFE and has been a strong promoter of shearing schools and traineeships.

He is also a WA open shearing champion.
