A RECENT WAFarmers Zone meeting identified the need for clarification of the Towed Agricultural Implements Regulations.
Under the Road Traffic (Towed Agricultural Implements) Regulations, farmers are able to move vehicles between locations under conditions governed by their length and width.
Farmers need to 'do the right thing' when transporting machinery on roads, and are reminded that the absence of suitable pilot vehicles, signage, lights and flags is not only breaking the law, but is an accident waiting to happen.
Farmers want to continue to be able to provide their own piloting for machinery shifts and therefore it was agreed that taking short cuts may result in a loss of the current conditions with the alternate extending out to mandatory pilot accreditation or forced employment of private piloting services.
WAFarmers has a limited number of copies of the Guide to the use of Towed Agricultural Implements in WA available for WAFarmers members.
