WAFARMERS has welcomed Westpac’s commitment to support its rural customers during the current dry season.
WAFarmers president, Mike Norton, noted that the 2010 season had been difficult for many farmers, with limited rainfall in much of the State’s agricultural area, and in many cases, the lowest on record.
“WAFarmers congratulates Westpac for giving all of its wheatbelt account holders early notice that the bank will be offering support and information on financial options and guidance for the 2010/11 season,” Mr Norton said.
“WAFarmers has been working with Westpac to achieve this positive result, and have also held discussions with other banks and agribusinesses, with the aim of supporting farmers during the dry season.
“Farmers are now encouraged to discuss their financial position with their lending institutions to remove any uncertainties regarding the current dry season,” concluded Mr Norton.
Westpac has also announced a series of seminars aimed at offering support on financial options, information on risk and cashflow assessment, and guidance in dealing with these difficult seasonal conditions.
The seminars are scheduled to be held in the first week of November in Moora, Northam, Merredin, Lake Grace, Katanning and Narrogin.
