Warning on water course
PAYMENTS to states and territories in relation to water reform should be overhauled, and significant commitments to return over-allocated surface and ground water to sustainable levels are still not being met, a report by the National Water Commission says.
In its latest review of the National Water Initiative, the commission calls for the Council of Australian Governments to renew its commitment to national water reform amid growing signs progress on the 2004 agreement is stalling, reports .
