Waroona fire breaks containment lines

AN emergency warning has been issued in Waroona, with residents advised to evacuate or prepare to defend their homes as a fire burns in the town's east.

The fire, which was earlier contained, escaped containment lines and homes in Nanga Brook Scarp Road, Woodley Heights, Forrington Heights and Invarell Road are under threat.

The fire is burning in bushland between Elliot Street and Woodley Heights and is moving towards Waroona, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said.

There is a possible threat to lives and residents have been advised to act immediately to survive, according to DFES.
