Wetter summer for WA

28 Nov, 2008 11:54 AM

The latest three-month rainfall outlook from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) points to a wetter than average summer throughout Western Australia.

Meat and Livestock Australia says summer rains in the west would assist the pastoral regions produce summer feed for both cattle and sheep producers.

Any rainfall across the cropping areas of WA will also help to maintain soil moisture, assisting summer feed germination.

MLA says a wet summer should also assist the expansion of cattle numbers across south eastern Queensland, especially through the Darling Downs, which has suffered several years of drought.
