More than 300 young people from across the Wheatbelt region attended the first ever Wheatbelt Youth Summit, Youth Biz, at the Cunderdin Agricultural College on Friday, September 23.
The event was hosted by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Wheatbelt, through its Youth Connections program, in partnership with the WA College of Agriculture Cunderdin.
Minister for Child Protection, Community Services, Seniors and Volunteering, Women’s Interests and Youth Robyn McSweeney officially opened the event.
The young people who participated in the day were given the opportunity to take part in a variety of workshops, listen to inspiring and motivating speakers and had access to more than 30 stalls providing opportunities and information on services from youth related agencies.
Participants said they liked being able to choose what they wanted to learn about instead of having to go to everything.
Attendees took home a show bag full of great youth information, a free Youth Biz t-shirt and will receive a copy of the new Youth Resource Directory with a wealth of youth related information for young people living in the Wheatbelt.
Youth outreach and liaison officer Michelle Blackhurst congratulated the RDA Wheatbelt Youth Connections team and WA College of Agriculture Cunderdin staff for presenting the fantastic event for the Wheatbelt youth.
