In addition to the many repeat buyers there was also eastern states interest in the offering of 41 grassfed Angus bulls offered by Murray and Sheryle Davis and family at the Coonamble stud's on-property sale at Bremer Bay last Wednesday.
The final result of the sale was a total clearance at auction of all 41 bulls offered for an average of $4982, up by $84 on last year, and a top price of $9000.
This was paid for lot one of the sale, C188 who was by the well proven sire, Coonamble Z3 and out of Coonamble Portia.
This April 2007-drop bull is a full brother to Coonamble Buddy B280, a sire bound not only to make an impact in the Coonamble stud but also in the eastern states as his semen is now being marketed in the east by Southern Cross Genetics.
The winning bid of $9000 came from Richard Hall, Precision Transfers, who was bidding on behalf of two eastern states studs, Anvil Angus, Victoria, and Nairn Park, New South Wales.
C188, like his older brother, has tremendous temperament and excellent EBV figures of +3.2 birthweight and +40, +75 and + 102 for 200, 400 and 600 day weight and +2.1 scrotal size.
There were again a good number of volume buyers, none more so than Ian Smith, Baboo Pastoral Co, Green Range, who bought six bulls last year and returned to this sale for another five to a top of $5750. Another regular client, Brian Lester, Manypeaks, bought three bulls last year and also returned to buy two at this sale to $7750.
