IF you're considering increasing your stud or commercial Angus herd then Wednesday, September 28 is the date not to miss when one of the State's elite Angus herds goes under the hammer.
The Diamond Tree Angus Female Dispersal sale will be conducted by the Landmark team at the Boyanup sale yards commencing at 11am.
A total of 278 registered females will make up stage one of the offering and producers can have confidence in buying some of the best Angus genetics across WA.
The sale features 246 registered B to K drop Angus females and 32 registered B to K drop Angus females with calves at foot.
The majority have been artificially inseminated from May 8 to May 31 and have been running with Diamond Tree sires thereafter.
New owners Ian, Felicia and son Howard Schwartz privately purchased the stud from the Gandy family in October last year, however having not found a suitable property, they have been left with no option but to sell.
Howard said the herd itself was magnificent and all the females have excellent temperaments and outstanding EBVs that are genetically very flexible to work with.
"The females will complement any beef enterprise well," he said.
"With the help of Landmark Breeding, we have completed a very successful AI program this season."
The latest AI sires used include Pathfinder Genesis 357, HPCA Intensity 7102, Quaker Hill Rampage OA36, Adrossan Honour H225, Paringa Judd, Riverbend None Better, Te Mania Emporer and Conneally Mentor, who was used in last year program.
Back up bulls include Diamond Tree K92, K129, L49, L136, L140 and L334.
While the majority of the females will be vet-checked and guaranteed PTIC, approximately 30 head will not as they will be too early to detect.
"We are not retaining any females, with their offspring to be sold at a later date, but I believe there is no better time to breed Angus due to the favourable industry outlook and the high profile of the breed," Howard said.
"The majority of the State has experienced an exceptional season and it is the perfect time to expand herd numbers or restock."
Part of the sale will include lot 260, Diamond Tree Lead On B158, with a May-drop bull calf at foot, Diamond Tree Bartell M264.
Full proceeds of this quality unit are being donated to the Beau Chatley Fund.
South West livestock manager Darren Chatley said it was not often that a registered herd of this size was offered by public auction.
"Therefore it represents a rare opportunity for prospective buyers to purchase some of the best Angus cows in WA," he said.
"Due to the performance of the Diamond Tree cattle over a long period of time they have been highly sought after.
"The bulls out of these cows averaged $6600 over the past five years and reached an average of $7800 at auction last year which is an exceptional result.
"If you are looking for top quality Angus females with some of the best genetics available I would certainly encourage you to attend the sale."
The Diamond Tree females have recently been drenched with Eclipse and vaccinated with Ultravac 7in1, Multimin, B12 and selenium.
The auction is Angus Assured, with all females Breedplan registered and the proceedings will be interfaced on AuctionsPlus.
With local and some interstate inquiries, including a $500 per head freight rebate for any Eastern States purchases over $4500, the Diamond Tree Angus Female Dispersal is sure to impress.
