THE WA Lot Feeders Association voted in a new chairman at last week's annual general meeting.
Trevor Hinck, Hyden, is set to take over the role from Tammin lotfeeder Ivan Rogers.
Mr Rogers was standing down after four years in the position.
Mr Hinck said he was excited about his new role and was looking forward to seeing growth in the WA lotfeeding industry.
"I would really like to see the WA lotfeeders get a greater share in the market in the next 12 months," he said.
Mr Hinck said lotfeeder capacity was down to less than 50 per cent and recognised there needed to be better utilisation of available yard space.
"We have the capacity to feed the entire State," he said.
"But the demand for grainfed beef isn't there to keep the yards full.
"The only way to increase our holding that I can see is through developing export markets."
Mr Hinck also said there needs to be closer collaboration with the processing sector to develop a sustainable industry into the future.
