WESTERN Australia's premier cattle event Better Beef is back for 2017.
WA Lot Feeders Association (WALFA) president Trevor Hinck and the board were pleased to announce the return of the event, to be held in Bridgetown on March 29-30.
New executive officer Felicity Taylor was appointed at the end of 2016 with the aim of kickstarting the association, including the return of the premier event.
"Returning to the biennial format WALFA is excited to be developing an innovative program that will bring value to WA Cattle producers and the wider industry," Mr Hinck said.
The two-day event will showcase nationally-recognised speakers, local industry experts and producer champions who will speak on topics including the social license of beef production, emerging domestic and international market opportunities, successful backgrounding strategies, the latest research outcomes and building better cows.
Ms Taylor said keynote speakers Dr Matt George from Bovine Dynamics and Dr Heather Bray from University of Adelaide were well received at ALFA's BeefEx in late 2016.
"We see an important role of WALFA is to further the innovation of the WA Feedlot industry by bringing these experts to our doorstep and team those guys up with local champions like Dr Enoch Bergman, Mike Harcourt- Smith others," Ms Taylor said.
"We have a full program of speakers to motivate and encourage the attendees to increase the profitability of their businesses."
The first day will be held at the Bridgetown Gardens Conference Centre and will include trade exhibits and a sundowner where Landmark agent Tiny Holly will share his personal story about how a call to Lifeline saved his life.
An annual general meeting over breakfast will kick off the second day and will be followed by a property visit to Mike and Rob Introvigne, Bonnydale Black Simmentals, which will include more machinery and animal handling equipment demonstrations.
