A RECENT survey has shown that Australians rate chicken as the healthiest meat type, with 53 per cent of respondents ranking it as a healthier option than beef, pork or lamb.
“Chicken breast has the lowest level of saturated fat of all commonly eaten meats. It is also high in protein and a good source of vitamins and minerals, making chicken an excellent and healthy choice at meal times,” said Dr Andreas Dubs, executive director of the Australian Chicken Meat Federation (ACMF).
In the same survey, conducted by McCrindle Research of 1000 respondents nationally, nearly 60pc of people also rated chicken as the best value for money meat option.
“It is hardly surprising that over the last 40 years, chicken has become a far more important part of our diets, replacing beef as Australian consumers’ meat of choice.”
“Almost 90pc of us are eating chicken at least once a week, and 60pc of us eat chicken two or more times a week,” said Dr Dubs.
