A TOP yarding of 1200 cattle suitable for a range of buyers will be available at Landmark's next monthly Boyanup store cattle sale.
In the sale, which is scheduled for this Friday, April 7, there will be a good run of beef steers and heifers, along with a good selection of Friesian steers and their crosses.
The sale will round out with some classy proven breeders for producers looking to stock up their breeding numbers.
There will be a good run of Friesian steers on offer and the quality won't disappoint.
Offering numbers in this section will be Cookernup operation Thompson Brook Grazing which will truck in 24 black and white steers aged 16 to 18 months.
Also offering steers around this same age bracket will be GP & EL Papalia, Brunswick, with 12 steers (14-16mo) and A & PE Pratico, Greenbushes, with 14 steers (12-18mo).
D Dagostino & Son, Harvey, Katandra Farming, Brunswick and V & E Pitter, Waroona, will all offer between 12 to 14 steers each aged 12-14mo.
There will also be plenty of Friesian poddy steers in the line-up just waiting to be grown out in the paddock.
The biggest draft in these pens will be offered by FJ, BA & CF Foster, Cowaramup.
The Fosters' offering will consist of 40 bucket-reared, Friesian steers aged 7-9mo.
The majority originate from their own dairy however the line is also made up of calves which were purchased in from another local dairy and reared.
Landmark Busselton representative Wayne Hams said the calves from the Fosters will certainly impress.
"They are well-grown and will be ideal for putting out in the paddock and growing out over the next two years," Mr Hams said.
"They are ready to go and have had all the health treatments."
Other vendors to truck in sizable lines of younger steers will include T & F Longrande, Harvey, 17 head (8-12mo); Stella Dairies, Roelands, 15 head (5-6mo); C & L Italiano, Harvey, 16 head (5-6mo).
Like the Friesians the offering of beef cattle in the sale will also not disappoint.
The biggest offering in the beef line-up will come from David and Veronica Stacey and family, Maroondah Farms and Coonara WA, when they truck in their annual draft of calves.
The Stacey family has nominated 180 calves (50 steers and 130 heifers) aged 12-14mo.
The well-grown calves are sired by Angus and Blonde d'Aquitaine bulls and out of Angus and Murray Grey cows.
The line will have a weight range of 350-450kg.
The calves were weaned in December and since then have been running on frosted stubbles and cereal pasture paddocks.
Also filling a number of pens in the beef lanes will be PMV & G Butler, Waterloo, who have nominated 120 Angus (70 steers and 50 heifers), which is their annual draft.
The 12-14mo calves were weaned in December and have a good temperament after being well-handled.
For producers looking for future Angus breeders a run of 60 Angus heifers from The Lakes Grazing is sure to impress.
The black beauties are aged 10-12mo and have been vet checked suitable to breed.
Another good line of well-bred Angus calves will come from Carters Farm, Busselton, which will truck in 34 head (24 steers and 10 heifers).
The calves are 12mo and based on Blackrock Angus bloodlines.
Landmark Boyup Brook agent Jamie Abbs said the steers will weigh from 360-380kg and the heifers will weigh 330kg plus.
"They are good line of well-bred Angus calves which will be suitable for either lotfeeders or graziers. The heifers also have the potential to be future breeders," Mr Abbs said.
Boyup Brook operation, DW Treloar will offer Angus and Murray Grey calves in the line-up when it trucks in 24 steers.
The 12mo calves are based on Spring Hills Angus bloodlines and will weigh 330-350kg.
Another line sure to impress in the beef run will be 22 mixed-sex, Lincoln Red-Charolais cross calves from MJ Lynch, Donnybrook.
The calves are by Tone Park Lincoln Red bulls and out of Charolais females based on Blaweary and Copplestone bloodlines
Other vendors in the beef line-up with larger lines include Kau & Son, Yarloop, with 22 Charolais (12 steers and 10 heifers) plus 14 Angus (10 steers and four heifers) all aged 10-11mo; SR & BA McKay, Serpetine, with 20 Angus and Murray Grey steers (10-12mo) and 10 Limousin steers (10-12mo) and A & PE Pratico, who have nominated 12 Murray Grey cross steers (12mo) and 18 Murray Grey steers (10m).
The biggest line in the mated cows run will be offered by Williams River Produce, Williams, which has nominated 28 mixed-age Angus cows.
The cows are PTIC to Murray Grey and Angus bulls and are due to calve from June through to early August.
