MT BARKER Regional Saleyards will be brimming with quality on Thursday, April 6, when the Elders team yards more than 540 head of well-bred local cattle to suit a range of requirements.
Elders Albany representative Jai Newman said the sale will present a big opportunity.
"Buyers looking for stock with top quality genetics and breeding will be satisfied with the line-up," Mr Newman said.
"The heifers in particular have real potential as future breeders and all cattle are quiet with good temperaments.
"A large number of the cattle up for sale are being offered due to downsizing and most heifers are from the vendors' first draft."
The largest portion of the sale will be dominated by Angus heifers from a range of highly respected bloodlines.
"The Angus heifers are outstanding in their presentation," Mr Newman said.
"They demonstrate what buying outstanding sires and good breeding programs can achieve."
Heading up the heifer portion of the sale will be a draft of 64 12-month-old Angus heifers from Levens Cattle Co, South Stirling.
The calves are predominantly out of Koojan Hills blood mothers and are by either Coonamble or Mordallup sires.
Ranging in weight between 350-400kg, the heifers were yard weaned for a week and have received no treatments.
Another substantial line-up will be offered by A & GA Perrella, Redmond, with 44 Angus heifers up for grabs.
The March-April 2016 drop calves feature predominantly Diamond Tree bloodlines, but there are also some Coonamble and Mordallup genetics in the mix.
The well-bred heifers range in weight upwards from 350kg and have been given treatments of Multimin and Cydectin 2in1.
Kojaneerup Holdings, Kojaneerup, will offer 47 June-drop Angus heifers with Lawsons Angus bloodlines, tipping the scales upwards of the 300kg mark.
The calves were yard weaned in December at which time they received a drench.
Martin & Flavel will also offer 40 Angus heifers based on Boyanup bloodlines and Marawa Farms will offer 15 from Monterey bloodlines.
Mr Newman said the majority of the heifer yarding ranges in weight between 300-380kg.
In the beef steer offering there will be a solid line-up of 120 Angus steers from RA Bentink.
The steers range between 200-300kg and feature Lawsons Angus bloodlines.
There will also be 60 Murray Grey steers with Tullibardine genetics offered by Merinvale Grazing.
Friesian steers will also be available, with 36 presented by Southland Agri due to the purchase of an Angus stud and the need for space on-property.
Southern Grazing will offer 20, AW & AP Latham will offer 34 and P & AM Mostert will offer 15.
A small draft of cows with calves at foot will be presented to round out the sale.
LW Martin will offer three drafts including 10 Simmental cows with third and fourth calves at foot, 15 Angus and Murray Grey cows with fifth calves at foot and 15 Angus cows (mixed age) with calves at foot.
Five Hereford cross cows with first calves at foot will be presented by G & S Elphick.
The sale is to be included in the trade sale and will get underway at 10am.
