The program begins with participants meeting at Warakirri Agricultural Trusts in Melbourne from 28-30 September for their first face to face gathering.
The AFGLP, which has received enormous support from the grains industry, invokes leadership in action as participants set their own integrated industry leadership project which they will then work towards.
During the program an exciting range of industry relevant projects will be undertaken, including: development of a decision making product for young farmers; engaging growers in marketing decisions and options; implementation of a safety transformation program; develop a perennial grains education program; development of storage and handling standards; investigation of population trends and their impacts on domestic and global market movement;, and piloting an online market information service for grain growers.
GGA Chairman John Eastburn said the chosen group has already demonstrated their leadership potential by nominating and being selected to participate in this unique program.
“These 15 future leaders have a great opportunity in front of them. They have a chance to develop their leadership skills and gain a better understanding of the Australian grains industry and ultimately advance their careers.
“The demand for well trained, effective leadership in our industry has never been more critical,” Mr Eastburn said.
The program commences on 28 September 2010 and runs through until 27 July 2011.
