BIRDS of a red feather flocked together for Elders real estate conference at the Pagoda Spa and Resort, Como, last week.
More than 100 rural, residential, commercial and administration staff and franchisees made the journey to Perth for the opportunity to hear from industry expert guest speakers on some very specific topics.
Co-organiser and Elders real estate sales executive rural WA Jim Sangalli said this included advice for dealing with separated or divorced couples, as well as the process for deceased estates and property and fraud prevention.
“We revisited title encumbrances and were also given examples of some of the scams that have been perpetrated by overseas criminals during the past 10 years,” Mr Sangalli said.
“Our group was alerted to tell-tale signs of fraudulent activity from overseas inquiry.”
Mr Sangalli said the conference also provided a great opportunity for staff to compare notes about the season and the marketplace within their respective communities and regions.
“In the agricultural sector we have seen huge variation in rainfall received to date with much of the South Coast still missing out,” he said.
“Residentially Esperance, Albany, Bunbury and Geraldton are all different marketplaces with employment being a major factor.
“In regional centres we have huge variation in economic circumstances both in the towns and on farms.
“What days like this do is remind us and highlight the amazing amount of experience in years, areas and activities there is within the Elders network,” Mr Sangalli said.
“One of the greatest things is to see these very experienced staff being so willing to share their knowledge with their younger, less experienced colleagues, as was reflected in group sessions during the day.”
Mr Sangalli said Elders had more training planned for real estate staff at the Gold Coast in early August.
“This year’s focus will be on digital innovation from a host of speakers from around the world,” he said.
“Our high achievers will also be acknowledged at the event, giving them the opportunity to network and discuss and build on their shared experiences.”
