DESPITE being devastated by drought in 2006 the resilient graingrowers of the Northern Agricultural region have shown their indomitable spirit in true Christmas style.

WA farmer Peter Cripps, of Binnu, inland from Geraldton, caught sight of these local Santas on North West Coastal Highway just north of Northampton.

Farmers had decorated their farm gates with Santas doing an array of Christmas activities, including leading the reindeers through the bone-dry paddock, driving the old sleigh, and having a few post-present delivery beverages.

Mr Cripps said it was wonderful to see a bit of endeavour and humour had come to the fore, considering the seasonal and political turmoil farmers were going through. H

e said west Binnu farmers had even begun talking about a Santa contest and combined progressive drive for next year.
