THE 2009 national junior judging and handlers competitions were held at the Royal Hobart Show, Tasmania, last week.

This year five WA participants went over to represent the state and came back with the best ever results, taking out three national titles.

Getting through the state round is an achievement on its own but winning the national title is a huge accomplishment and that's just what Kurt Wise, Woodanilling, Natalie Burke, Denmark and Bayden Reid, Darkan, did.

The 2009 National junior fleece judging champion sash was awarded to Kurt Wise, Wililoo Merino stud, Woodanilling, the national junior beef cattle judging winner was Natalie Burke, WA Agricultural College, Denmark beef agricultural instructional technical officer, while the national junior meat sheep judging winner was Primaries Darkan representative, Bayden Reid.

Others to represent the state were Rick Wise,Wililoo Merino stud, Woodanilling, who placed third overall in the national junior Merino sheep judging, Lachlan Fry, Katandra Park Holstein stud, Benger, who competed in the national junior dairy judging competition, while in the beef and dairy cattle handlers competition Casey Morris, Morrisvale Livestock Services, Williams, and Natalie Burke represented WA.
