IT started out as a great sale with the Primaries auctioneers extracting every last dollar from willing bidders on the property of P and K Harris, Binnu.
But as so often happens, many of the big ticket items failed to reach reserves, leaving a 36.6m (120ft) HydraBoom boomsprayer to top the sale at a very respectable $91,500.
A 2010 model, the sprayer had a 7000 litre solution tank, a 1000L fresh water tank and dual lines fitted with 02 Teejet Air Nozzles and 02 Teejet Tt nozzles, while a 1996 HydraBoom with 24m (80ft) boom and 3800L tank made $1100 and a 36.6m (120ft) 1997 Auspray Flexi-N boomsprayer with a 5000L tank made $3200.
Trading as Binalla Pty Ltd, the Harris family had a great range of quality machinery on offer, including a John Deere 9320 4WD tractor, purchased for $83,000 by Adam Franklin on behalf of Andrew Kenny, Rubicon, Badgingarra, and a 8320 John Deere FWA tractor which sold for $71,500.
It was an unusual clearing sale in that there were only limited sundries offered, but they were generally of a high value, especially two John Deere Starfire 300 controllers which sold for $18,600 and $10,000.
Transport machinery was well represented, with a 9m (30ft) five-axle Evertrans dog grain trailer making $31,500, a 9.6m (32ft) Evertrans tri-axle lead grain trailer sold for $23,000, while a 1979 Ford Louisville L8000 tandem drive tipper with single axle HP tipping trailer made $21,900.
Other transport items made more modest prices, including a 1994 Land Cruiser diesel ute which made $6000, and an International C1600 truck with an old Jetstream 5:1 bin which sold for $1600.
A Flexi-Coil bar with knife points and press wheels sold for $18,000, while a John Deere 787 air cart made $6500, and a 15m (50ft) Augerline fitted with Shearer culti discs and a Flexi-Coil air kit fetched $5500.
A Marshall Multispreader with PTO drive sold for $21,600, a 9m (30ft) Agroplow with 30cm (12in) spacings started with an opening bid of $2000, but went on to sell for $21,000. A 5.2m (17ft) blade plough sold for $8000, while a 10m (33ft) two-way plough sold for $1400.
As always, grain storage and handling equipment attracted keen attention, with a 15m (50ft) by 175mm (7in) Agrifab SP auger making $17,250, while four round field bins met the hammer - a 40t DE sold for $4800, a 30t DE made $1000, a 30t WS bin fetched $2800 and a 25t Klimax bin sold for $2200.
Some more modestly-priced machines included a 1978 Michigan 45b FEL which sold for $5400, an International 786 on singles which made $2800, while a Clyde Gallion grader, T500 Series A, sold for $3000 and a Komatsu FG10 forklift made $1200.
