Nationals WA candidate for Moore

Shane Love

I JOINED the Nationals following the introduction of Royalties for Regions which is entirely a Nationals WA initiative and which is recognised throughout Australia as a great program for Regional WA.

Royalties for Regions points to the value in having a party, The Nationals, dedicated to the needs of country people.

My prior political experience is in local government where I am in my ninth year as shire president of Dandaragan. I sit on the board of NACC and have served many organisations including the Wheatbelt Development Commission. I have farmed in the Badgingarra area since 1986.

My wife Kareen and I have raised four children here.

If elected I wish to build on the strength of Moore, its diverse economy, stunning natural settings and its people. I would address a range of issues including

p The provision of Aged Care

There are gaping holes in health service and Moore has areas of growing population where the services have not caught up to that growth

p The state of some of our key major roads especially the Great Northern Highway and key roads such as the Mullewa-Morawa Road and Toodyay Road.

p Assisting agriculture to grasp new opportunities.

p Supporting our livestock industry when dealing with animal rights groups

p Amending land clearing laws and assisting farmers facing difficulties dealing with government and others including better handling of water and land use conflicts between farmers, developers, gas explorers, miners, residents etc.

p Education issues such as the Year 7 entry to high school and better access to ATAR courses in years 11 and 12

p Family service provision including child care

p Impediments to economic growth including charges to business for water and power provision as well as the red tape run-around

p Management problems in the Western Rock Lobster Fishery.

p Promoting the strength of the tourism industry which in some areas is facing huge challenges.

p Maintaining our environment which underpins so much of our industry and lifestyle.

I have no ambition to do anything but to harness the years of experience and the skills I have developed to be the best representative I can to assist each of the individual communities of Moore to address their own unique blend of challenges and opportunities without favouring any area over another.
