GROWERS today are constantly seeking information so they can be better informed when time comes to make planning, farm operations and business decisions.

Years ago life on the land was relatively simple compared to the pressures growers experience in today’s environment.

Now with globalization growers are competing with crops grown from around the world.

Burdekin Productivity Services as part of our core business is keen to keep growers well informed so they can have as much information as possible when it comes time to make farming decisions.

As a result Burdekin Productivity Services in conjunction with the North Queensland Register are holding a Cane 2 U Grower Information Day.

The information day will be held on March 21 at the Ayr Showgrounds starting at 9.30am.

A range of quality speakers will be presenting papers to inform growers what is happening in the Sugar Industry.

Burdekin Productivity Services Manager John Deambrosis will give the opening address, which will be followed by an introduction to the project by a representative from DERM.

Representing BSES on the day will be Julian Connellan who’ll provide information on the Nitrogen Trial the group has been conducting; Dr Rob Magarey will speak about the current issues in regards to Bio-Security; and Dr Peter Samson will showcase the Sesamia Borer.

Speaking on behalf of ACTFR will be Aaron Davies, who’ll discuss Catchment Water Quality Results; and Rob Milla will speak on the Barratta/Reef situation.

And Executive General Manager for Sucrogen, Craig Doyle will provide an outlook on Sugar Price Futures.

There will also be trade displays on the day from local business firms.

After the meeting growers are encouraged to stay behind and visit the several trade displays.

The guest speakers will also mingle with the crowd so growers have further access to the speakers so additional discussions can be had.

“Burdekin Productivity Services and the North Queensland Register are hoping for good grower participation as we would like to make this a yearly event,” Mr Rickert said.
