THE Bandeeka team and its guest vendors are excited to offer a strong line-up of 37 sires at its 12th annual on-property bull sale next week.
The Helmsman auction will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018, on Boundary Road, Boyanup, commencing at 1.30pm.
The Kitchen family’s Bandeeka stud will offer 22 traditional Simmental bulls, nine Red Angus bulls and one Angus bull, guest vendors the Wetherell family’s Bandeeka Blacks stud, Boyanup, have three Black Simmental bulls while sale debutant Peter and Rebecca Bantock’s, Red Rock stud, Busselton, will offer two Red Angus bulls.
Bandeeka Simmentals is also offering a discerning buyer the opportunity to select a single heifer from four ‘heart of the herd’ heifers and two semen packages from influential Simmental sires Bandeeka Fancypants and Woonallee Benefactor.
It will be the third Bandeeka sale using the Helmsman auction system where a practical reserve price of $4000 is placed on each bull at the sale.
The system is considered more user friendly for buyers and the animals, providing a less stressful environment.
It also allows buyers more time to consider lodging a bid on any bull of choice during the sale period and purchase bulls irrespective of lot order.
Bandeeka stud principals Tony and Loreen Kitchen said the family was proud of the 2018 sale draft with their great muscle expression, growth for age and highly valued quiet temperaments.
“The Simmentals are a team of soft, easy-doing young bulls while our line-up of Red Angus bulls are the best we have ever offered at the sale,” the Kitchens said.
“We thoroughly enjoy hearing the successes of our clients who are reporting excellent weights in their calves averaging 240kg dressed and it gives us great pleasure to hear their positive feedback.
“Not many of our clients’ Simmental cross calves are seen at the feeder sales as most of them sell direct and have money in the bank in November.
“Our Bandeeka Simmental bulls produce heavy calves when mated to purebred Angus females.”
The Kitchens said a major benefit of the Simmental and Red Angus breeds is their strong maternal attributes that offer their customers not only the ability to produce top grade steers but also improve their cow herd with fertility, milk and calving ease.

The Bandeeka Simmental team will feature plenty of sons of Bandeeka sires Hawk Eye, Fancypants and Poll Dusty and grandsons of popular sire Barana Echuca.
Bandeeka Fancypants was the unbeaten interbreed show champion around the State’s show circuit for two years in a
row and its semen has been used in herds all around the country.
While there is plenty of depth right through the Bandeeka team, a few bulls have been ear marked as potential stud sires.
Lot two, Bandeeka Musicman is a soft, polled and powerful young bull that would enhance any herd.
It is well-bred by Bandeeka Poll Dusty, the interbreed junior champion bull at the 2009 Perth Royal Show, and displays above average EBVs for growth and carcase.
Musicman’s short show career saw it win the grand champion bull title at the 2017 Brunswick show and supreme exhibit title at the 2017 Busselton show.
Lot one, Bandeeka Matermind is an impressive young bull that has quality and balance with above average EBV figures with its breeding going back to Barana Echuca.
Lot three Bandeeka Master is another Echuca grandson that was a twin out of a Fancypant’s dam.
The outstanding bull has great hair type and style.
Keep an eye out for Bandeeka Molly Meldrum in lot 11, a beautifully bred bull showing softness and excellent muscle on strong legs and sound feet.
It is a special young bull by Hawk Eye that has been a standout since birth.
In the Bandeeka Red Angus line-up, a few stud sire prospects include lead bull lot 26 Bandeeka Red Lego, September 2015 born son of highly regarded sire Tronar Jeb.
Red Lego has been used lightly in the Bandeeka herd and has it all, athletically powerful with a wonderful temperament.
It is a definite stud sire that is bred in the purple, a twin with both parents standouts in the Bandeeka herd.
Lot 27, Bandeeka Red Mosaic is another powerful bull with a rich heritage and is very mobile with a great outlook.
It is by homebred bull Red Jaguar, a son of breed legend Red Line Mulberry 26P, and out of a wonderful cow Tronar Jewel.
Bandeeka Red Mustang in lot 28 is another Jeb son that is full of red meat, easy doing with an excellent temperament.
For those wanting black bulls, Bandeeka Blacks will have three AI-bred polled bulls in the sale including two two-year-old bulls by TNT Tanker U263 and CCR Cowboy Cut and an outstanding yearling (February 2017-drop) bull by SVS Captain Morgan 11Z.
All these bulls are well-bred and ready to go to work with cows and heifers.
Red Rock’s two Red Angus sires are both quality younger Tronar Jeb sons (June-August 2016-drop) that have excellent temperament.
