NSW Government will inject an extra $100,000 into wild dog management.

SOUTH-east NSW has received a $100,000 boost for its wild dog management programs.

Primary Industries Minister Katrina Hodginkson and Environment Minister Rob Stokes announced the funding, which will assist targeted control programs in south-east NSW where wild dogs are a threat to both agriculture and the environment.

"The majority of the funding will go towards enhancing strategic trapping and baiting programs in the region, to be undertaken by Local Land Services (LLS), National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) rangers and landholders," Ms Hodgkinson said.

"The project will also implement an integrated reporting system for wild dog management activities and wild dog attacks on livestock."

Ms Hodgkinson said the funding would boost LLS' engagement with community groups.

"It will enable the sharing of information across agencies, including Local Land Services and NPWS, to better coordinate activities across the region."

Mr Stokes said funding would improve monitoring of wild dogs.

"Part of the funding will go towards monitoring the positive impacts of the program on native fauna conservation and reducing livestock predation," he said.

"The program will also support a review of all wild dog management plans to ensure that they adopt best practice, have resources for implementation identified and agreed, and have a monitoring component to gauge their success."

WOW…. Isn’t it a bit early for April fool's jokes? Have a couple of zeros been dropped off the funding figure to cater for the money the NPWS has siphoned off for other purposes rather than feral animal control over recent years? The tracks this morning said there was a wild party nearby last night for the feral dogs, pigs and horses from NPWS having a jolly good time killing stock, destroying the environment, spreading weeds. Wake up Minister Hodgkinson the LLS is a failure and the NPWS is again pulling the wool over your eyes.
