IN a sale that started well but had some weak moments, a John Deere 9200 4WD tractor, with duals and 4463 hours, topped the Parkfield Farms clearing sale last week when Landmark auctioneer Steve Wright knocked it down for $79,000.
A second John Deere tractor, a 8100 FWA (4212 hrs), also attracted keen bidding before heading off to a new owner for $60,000.
A great line-up of machinery and 356 registered buyers set the scene for a spirited sale, with keen bidding seeing most lots making top dollar, although some of the big ticket items failed to make reserves.
These included a JD 9750 STS header with 10.9m (36ft) draper front, a Nitro N2 27.4m (90ft) boomsprayer (1800 hrs, passed in at $115,000), plus a 10.9m (36ft) E series DBS bar with 20cm (10in) spacings, complete with a 9000L Ausplow Multistream tow-behind triple bin.
But most items sold well, including a 228kW (305hp) 6 x 4 Scania 112H (230,000km), complete with a 6m (18ft) tipping tray and 4.6m (14ft) tandem tipping trailer, both with grain bins and Hobbs Hoists, which sold as one unit for $72,000.
A NH BR740A 1.6m (5ft) round baler, which had dropped only 5100 bales, sold for $35,000, while an eight tonne Norrish Spread-Mor Multi Spreader made $14,000.
Field bins always sell well at clearing sales and the wide selection at Parkfield was no exception, with a 45t Pederick making $12,300, a 45t Brereton $9800, and Jetstream and Allbulk 28t models selling for $4000 and $3000 respectively.
A line-up of augers included two 10.9m Klimax models, a hydraulic version with a 22.5cm (9in) barrel made $3500, while a standard 17.5cm (7in) version made $2050 and a couple of pencil augers sold for $400 and $250.
Four Eze-Lick self-feeders sold from $1300 to $1500, two round Bird feeders made $1700 and $1500, an old round DE Engineers fetched $1150, while a large feeder of indeterminate origin made $1500.
A good selection of utes were on offer, from elderly Land Rovers ($950 and $700), a similar vintage Toyota 4 x 2 Hilux ($750), to a 2003 Holden Rodeo 4 x 4 3.00 TD ($8000).
Two 43,000L Flexi-N storage tanks sold for $4600 and $4400, a 5000L Flexi-N truck tank made $3100, while a smaller fibreglass tank fetched $1100.
Cattle handling equipment included an Elite cattle crush ($5300), a loading ramp ($1800) and a set of Withnell cattle yards "as is-where is" ($4000).
A Belarus 920 FWA tractor with Pederick FEL sold for $4500, an old Ford D series 4 x 2 truck made $750, a 6m (20ft) tipping grain bin fetched $1150, a 6m double-deck stock crate sold for $3000 and a 5m (15ft) crate made $2700.
Although an old BHB hydraulic wool press with manual pinning failed to attract a bid, a Sunbeam shearing head sold for $625, a jetting race made $1300 and a Suzuki 100 Ag bike fetched $550.
A total of 479 round bales of oaten hay were offered on a per-bale basis with minimum purchase of 10 bales. It resulted in 40 bales selling at $40, with the balance passed-in.
"Sundries too numerous to mention" is an old description that applied well to the Parkfield sale, with some of the sundries including a 2000L fuel tank with 12 volt pump on a four wheel trailer ($1700), a FEL stone pusher ($950), a stone bucket ($900), a 22 disc A2-10 International plough ($700) and a vintage International AW6 petrol/kerosene ($1000).
