MASSEY Ferguson walked away with the top honours at the Agritechnica Agriculture Show in Hanover Germany.
The company won the Golden Tractor Design for its MF 7640 Dyna-VT and picked up a Milestones in Agriculture title - for the three-point linkage it launched 75 years ago.
It also was a finalist in the Tractor of the Year competition won by John Deere's 7280R tractor. Other finalists included Case IH Puma 230 CVX, Deutz Fahr TTV 430, Fendt 724 Vario SCR, New Holland T8.390 and Valtra T213 Versu.
In other awards, gold medals were awarded to Fendt for its GuideConnect and to Krone for its non-stop baler wrapper. A total of 39 silver medals also were awarded from the 300 innovations submitted.
The Fendt GuideConnect system allows an unmanned tractor to fully automatically follow a guiding tractor in the paddock.
Both vehicles communicate wirelessly and are controlled by a RTK GPS steering system.
The driver of the guiding tractor monitors both machines and can access the complete operating interface of the following machine.
The Krone bale wrapper allows compacting, tying and unloading to be performed continuously. The intelligent control of a preliminary chamber, with a preliminary baling function, allows automatic operation.
The speed of travel of the tractor is adapted to the workload of the baler.
According to Krone, the machine throughput can be increased by up to 50 per cent.
