SILVAN Australia, through its Selecta merchandise division, has launched an inexpensive solution to farm and property security or livestock monitoring with the release of a new movement-activated security camera.
The Selecta Day and Night Security Camera is a protection aid for indoor and outdoor use and can be used to complement other deterrents including warning signs, locking systems, warning alarms and dogs.
The camera is motion-activated with a one-second response time and uses an invisible infra-red flash with a 20-metre recording range even in the dark.
It has a multi photo capacity with the capacity to take from one to three photos every time it is triggered.
Powered by small AA batteries, it captures movement-activated still photo or moving video images of any intruder.
The information recorded can be viewed on the colour screen of the security camera or stored on a USB or SD card for viewing on a camera, LCD screen or personal computer.
There is also a timer function which allows the camera to be turned off during daylight hours so that only suspicious movement at night or at designated times is recorded.
Equally it can record activity in daylight hours when the owner may be absent or working.
The information provided by the camera is such that the image of the intruder or activity can be recognised and is able to be passed on to a security firm or the police.
Selecta spokesman Greg Everett said theft of valuable equipment was one of the most frustrating aspects of a farm or rural property.
“Intruders usually seek out items with a quite high replacement cost that commonly disappear and are usually uninsured,” he said.
