BOULDER City's Scott Worthington has capped off a brilliant season by being named the West Coast Poly Player of the Year in the WA Country Football League.
The dual Subiaco Premiership player returned to his home club as captain in 2016 and quickly established himself as one of the best players in Country WA.
Selection in the WA Country Squad was achieved quickly and highlighted by a best on ground performance against the WAAFL Under 23s in May.
The Regional All-star side's inclusion at the Landmark Country Championships gave Worthington a great chance to compete against the best country players in WA.
He revelled in the opportunity, winning selection in the Landmark Allstars team and also being awarded with the Jock Beattie Trophy as the best player in the Southern Pool of Division B.
Selection in the WA Country Team that travelled to Adelaide in late July followed before Worthington's focus returned to the Goldfields and helping Boulder City try and win its first premiership since 2005.
A top of the ladder finish had Boulder eyeing off a grand final berth, but they had to do it the hard way after losing the second semi-final to Miners Rovers.
Despite this setback they made it to the grand final after a comprehensive win over Railways in the preliminary final, including a four goal haul from Worthington.
Worthington saved his best until last however, with a masterful five goal performance in the grand final that led to the 11-year premiership drought being broken.
In the game Boulder City 12.6 (78) defeated Mines Rovers 8.7 (55).
At the conclusion Worthington was presented with the Fyson Medal, being the best player on the ground
