RAM sales in WA went to another level on Tuesday at the East Mundalla Merino and Poll Merino on-property ram sale at Tarin Rock when it topped at $57,000 for a Poll Merino sire.
The $57,000 top is the highest figure paid for a Merino or Poll Merino ram at auction in Australia this year.
It was a solid sale from beginning to end with 192 rams selling from 210 offered for an average of $2120 - making it the best ever average at a single vendor sale in WA.
Elders auctioneer Nathan King said it was an oustanding sale and a terrific result for the Gooding family.
"The result certainly reinforced the stud's position as one of leading studs in Australia," Mr King said.
The sale topping ram was the first Poll sire offered (lot 51) and it was purchased by Michael Hedger, Snowy Plain Merino stud and Snowvale Poll Merino stud, Trappers Run, New South Wales.
The losing bidder on the ram was the Garnett family's Willemenup stud, Gnowangerup.
The upstanding, paddock presented ET-bred ram had current wool figures of 21 micron, 3.3 SD, 15.5 CV and 99.4 per cent comfort factor and a bodyweight of 121 kilograms.
It was by Collinsville Imperial 141 and out of Glenlea Park bred ewe.
The Merino side of the catalogue topped at $15,400 for a classy sire purchased by the High Valley stud, Tarin Rock.
The stud also announced on the day it had sold another Poll sire privately for $30,000 to the Pickering family's Pyramid Poll stud, Cascade and Paul Hendy, Bellbourie stud, Stawell, Victoria, which was negotiated by Landmark's Peter Gale and Mitchell Crosby.
