COLD, windy conditions did little to deter the loyal clients at Arrin Park's on-property ram sale last week, where the top price reached $900.
The quality of the 42 Merino and 10 Poll Merino rams impressed the return buyers, and saw Arrin Park's overall average reach $627.
The sale started strongly with the top-priced ram being the first on offer and selling for $900.
The strong bodied Merino ram was sold to the Sadler Family Trust, Three Springs and displayed figures of 20.9 micron, 72.7 per cent yield and 99.7pc comfort factor.
The Sadler Family Trust went on to purchase a good team of seven rams to an average of $693.
Neil Sadler, Three Springs, runs a mixed cropping and livestock operation and said it was important to keep the mix of enterprises where he farms on sandplain country.
"This year our pastures are looking good and the sheep have been looking excellent all year," Mr Sadler said.
"We come back to Arrin Park rams each year because these rams perform well and the wool has good handle and feel, which is what we are after."
Return clients DW & KM de Bruyn, Carnamah, were the volume buyers of the day, taking home a total of 10 Merino rams to a top of $700 paid for four rams.
Taking home a selection of Poll Merino and Merino rams were Walkaway locals PJ & AJ Clohessy, who selected nine rams for their team.
The Clohessys paid a top price of $750 for a robust Poll Merino ram with good length and figures of 20.8 micron, 76.1pc yield and a comfort factor of 99.7pc.
Mingenew locals and loyal Arrin Park clients, PC & AM Mitchell also put together a quality team of Arrin Park rams, with a mix of Poll Merino and Merinos, including two Poll Merinos which sold for $650 and boasted figures of 22.3 micron, 70.6pc yield, 99pc comfort factor and 22.2 micron, 71.2pc yield and 99.1pc comfort factor, respectively.
New to the Landmark auctioneering team and auctioneer on the day, Murray Paterson said he was impressed with the presentation of the Arrin Park rams on offer.
"It was great to see a strong sale despite the limited number of registered bidders and this shows the quality of the Arrin Park rams," Mr Paterson said.
Arrin Park stud principal Neill Reid said the sale clearance was great and he was happy to see a couple more buyers than the previous year.
"We are very happy with the sale, it is great to see the district having a good season, and the pastures are looking very good which is encouraging for all sheep producers," he said.
