A TRIP to Manjimup is in order because the weaners slated for next week's Landmark Manjimup Weaner Sale are looking pretty good.
The annual sale, due to get under way at 1.30pm on Tuesday, December 13, has once again attracted vendors with some of WA's top quality weaners, sure to catch the eye of a savvy buyer with some serious quality available on the back of an excellent season.
With stock suitable for a range of needs, attendees will be spoilt for choice with 700 head of South West-raised steers and heifers on offer.
The majority of the yarding will consist of Angus steers and heifers from respected local producers and will be rounded out by mixed sex lines of Murray Grey, Charolais, Limousin, Gelbvieh and Red Angus weaners.
Landmark Manjimup agent Brett Chatley said all buyers would be able to find stock to fit their requirements at the sale.
"There's certainly that bit of extra weight on offer this year due to the amount of feed on the ground," Mr Chatley said.
"And the high weight average of the yarding has not compromised on quality, meaning all buyers can bid with confidence, whatever their requirements.
"And as this is the first draft for a lot of the vendors, the lines on offer will be some of the best available this season."
One of the major contributors to the yarding this year is Joe Bendotti & Co, Pemberton, who will be offering his entire draft this year with 50 Angus steers and 50 Angus heifers, all between eight and 10 months old.
Sired by Diamond Tree Angus bulls, the well-bred Bendotti line weighs between 320-400kg, suitable for a range of needs.
Return vendors the Phillips family, WD & IM Phillips, Kanangra Grazing, Manjimup, will offer 85 Angus steers and 15 Angus heifers.
The 8-10mo draft featuring Diamond Tree genetics has been weaned for three weeks and weighs in at a heavy average of 340kg.
Manjimup-based producer Alan Kelly, AV & SM Kelly will match last year's selling effort with an offering of 61 weaners.
The mix of 13 Angus, 23 Limousin and 25 Red Angus 8-10mo mixed sex weaners range between 320-380kg.
Pemberton-based producer DR & DJ Roche will offer 60 10-11mo well-bred Angus weaners.
Sired by Diamond Tree bulls, the draft of 40 steers is top quality and the consistent line of 20 heifers are ideal future breeders.
Flybrook Farm, Pemberton, will also be offering 60 Angus weaners.
The selection of 8-10mo steers and heifers are based on Monterey and Diamond Tree Angus bloodlines, weighing in between 300-350kg.
There will also be a large offering of Charolais weaners with D Della & Son offering the largest draft of 50 mixed sex 8-10mo weaners, to make up a substantial portion of the 114 head of Charolais offered.
