Big lamb day at Esperance

21 Aug, 2002 10:00 PM

WAMMCO International is hosting a field day for prime lamb producers in Esperance on Monday, August 26.

It will be held at "Wollombi" on Fisheries Road, Esperance, beginning with lunch at 12.30pm before the formal proceedings commence at 1.30pm.

University of WA Animal Science researchers Dr John Milton and Dr Rob Davidson together with WAMMCO Marketing Manager, Damien Giumelli, will be the keynote speakers.

Dr Davidson will address the maternal side of prime lamb production, highlighting new opportunities to meet current market requirements by using non-traditional crosses and being financially better off.

Nutrition and management techniques to maximise the total package of prime lamb production from mating to market will be the topic of Dr Milton's address.

Mr Giumelli will speak on marketing opportunities and requirements.

Other speakers will include WAMMCO chairman and Popanyinning Poll Dorset stud breeder, Dawson Bradford.

WAMMCO General Manager, Mr Des Griffiths, said that the field day was an excellent opportunity for producers to hear well-respected experts in animal production and nutrition and to update themselves on a range of other issues.

"In addition producers will be able to update themselves on any issues they might have regarding the Cooperative. Producers should also make the most of the opportunity of tapping into the wide range of expertise available at the field day," Mr Griffiths said.

To register for the field day, contact or phone 9262 0999 or fax 9355 0961 no later than Wednesday, August 21, 2002.
