Dubbo Dohne rams to $16,000

WA breeders were among the buyers when Dohne rams sold to a record $16,000 and 72 averaged $3681 in a total clearance for five vendors at the 2nd annual national Dohne sale at Roseville Park stud, Dubbo, NSW.

The sale topper, offered by Greg McCann and John Nadin, Macquarie stud, Warren, was a high index AA ram bought by sale vendors Chris Bowman, manager, Uardry Dohne stud, Hay and Keith Sloane, Hendrik Dohne stud, Savernake.

Southwell Agricultural, "Sunny Ridge", Canowindra, paid the second top price of $7000 on two occasions for Roseville Park rams, offered by Graham and Sally Coddington, whose 52 rams averaged $3572.

Other vendor averages were Macquarie stud, 14 rams at $4339, Uardry stud, two rams at $3125, Hendrik stud, two rams at $3250 and Ian Hanna, Koobelup stud, Katanning, WA, two rams at $2875.

Volume buyers were Bruce and Craig Ward, Mimosa Pastoral Co., Forbes, six rams to $4000 average $3833, the Pye family, Calga West Pty Ltd, "Calga", Coonamble, six rams to $4500 average $3607 and Bede Parsons, Tradcal Pty Ltd, "Panbona", Forbes, six rams to $4000 average $3583.

The sale was conducted by Elders and Wesfarmers Landmark with auctioneer Tony Dowe.
