Northam ewes sell to $60.50

ELDERS offered a quality mixed yarding of 1yo wethers and mixed age ewes from surrounding areas at Northam last week where a line of 367 ewes of mixed ages offered by Ranchview, Quairading, sold to a top of $69.50 to Elders, York.

Wethers also sold very strongly and with the top price on the day peaking at $63 for 343 rising 1yo wethers of Chapman Vale blood that sold to Adam Hamersley, Haseley Merino stud, Toodyay.

The August shorn wethers were of excellent quality and were purchased by the Haseley stud in a bid to keep Winter grazing numbers up.

The Haseley stud also secured a second line of 344 1yo September shorn wethers of Glenbyrne blood, that were offered by Alan Edmonds, Bolgart, and went under the hammer for $61.50

Next to be offered were 135 1yo October shorn wethers from R Sheen & Co, Jennacubbine, that sold strongly to AR McKenzie, Northam.

Also from Northam were KM Morgan & Son who offered a total of 243 bare shorn 1yo wethers of Cardiff blood that sold to Elders, Perth for $45.

Strathavon, Toodyay, completed the offering with a line of 461 1.5yo September shorn wethers that sold to Wesfarmers Landmark, York.

Mixed aged ewes were next to go under the hammer with the first pen of ewes offered by Ranchview gaining the top price on the day at $69.50.

Next in the offering was 28 1.5yo September shorn ewes that sold to AR McKenzie, Northam, for $34.50.

Completing the offering from Strathavon was a line of 30 September shorn ewes of mixed ages that sold to AR McKenzie again for slightly less at $29.50.
