THE Manunda Merino and Poll Merino stud, Tammin, celebrated a significant achievement at this year's Smoke Free Perth Royal Show when one of its Poll Merino rams was sashed supreme exhibit.

In over 40 years of showing, stud owners, the Button family, had never won a supreme ribbon, but that all changed last night when its fine wool exhibit was crowned the overall winner in the sheep judging.

The ram was bought by the stud as a ram lamb from The Bluff stud. It tested at 19.2 micron, 14.7CV, 2.8SD and 99.7pc CF.

The win capped off an excellent show for the Buttons, who also exhibited the grand champion Poll Merino ewe of the show.

The grand champion Merino ram was exhibited by the Quailerup West stud, Arthur River, while the grand champion Merino ewe was shown by the Tilba Tilba superfine stud, Williams.

The prestigious Landmark and Farm Weekly sponsored motorbike class for a group of three autumn shorn Merino or Poll Merino rams aged under 18 months was won by the Merna stud, Quairading.

Full Merino judging report in this week's Farm Weekly.
