THIS year's Wagin Woolorama was one of the best ever, according to Wagin Woolorama president Murray Gell.
With the about 8500 people passing through the gates on Friday and another 11,000 on Saturday, the total attendance figures were up by about 100 on last year's event.
Mr Gell said one of the most positive things was the weather, which allowed families to stay well into the night, particularly for the rodeo on Saturday evening.
"Attendance figures were up on last year which was good and on Saturday the weather was good so everybody hung around," Mr Gell said.
"We had the rodeo and that was actually jam packed, whereas before people would say it was too hot and go home.
"But this year everybody stayed around and all the exhibitors that I spoke to did really well and were really happy.
"That was probably where the event shined, that people stayed longer than normal."
Mr Gell said the whole event was a great success.
"Everything went really smoothly and there were a few extra things on this year like the show dogs and the chooks and everybody looked pretty busy which was good," he said.
"The voting worked really well and I haven't heard any complaints.
"So based on that I would have to say it was probably the best year ever."
The Woolorama committee invited local sports star Ashleigh Nelson to open the event in its 41st year and she didn't disappoint hanging around for interviews and photos with a number of the children.
Ms Nelson is a member of the Hockeyroos and a Commonwealth Games gold medallist.
She grew up in Wagin and said she had fond memories of coming to the Woolorama as a young girl and driving the bumper cars.
