WITH a range of executive roles and board positions in fisheries, forestry, horticulture, agribusiness and rural financial services behind her, in 2010 Catherine Barnett was tasked with uniting two key associations in the South Australian food sector.

The result was Food South Australia Inc.

It’s the peak industry association for the State’s food sector which employs 18 per cent of SA’s workforce and represents more than $14 billion in gross revenue to the local economy.

As chief executive, Catherine ensures Food South Australia Inc supports members through showcasing products and businesses to markets nationally and internationally, including through offices in Japan and China.

It offers educational resources, training and networking, and technical, product and business development advice as well as providing the industry with a strong voice in policy and industry matters.

The local industry is further supported currently through Food South Australia Inc’s ‘Eat Local’ campaign, Shop & Swap, and the South Australian Food Industry Awards.
