LEITH Boully is currently leading a due diligence process for the Queensland government and irrigators in the SunWater irrigation schemes to investigate the potential to transfer the schemes to local ownership.

The schemes represent 30 per cent of Qld irrigation and the initiative represents a significant opportunity to enhance the productivity and profitability of the regions. The Qld government will consider detailed business proposals in the second half of 2014.

Leith is an experienced company director with current roles in the water and agricultural sectors with Murrumbidgee Irrigation Ltd, the National Water Commission, SeqWater, Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise, Infrastructure Qld and Healthy Waterways Ltd.

She has served on the boards of the Cotton Research and Development Corporation and Land and Water Australia, Australian Statistics Advisory Council and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

In addition Leith and her family operate a successful irrigation, dryland farming and grazing enterprise in south western Qld.
