WIAA 100: Rosemary Richards

ORIGINALLY from a mixed grazing/cropping property in western NSW, Rosemary Richards is passionate about agriculture.

Rosemary began her career in ag policy with the Tasmanian Department of Agriculture, moving then to the Grains Council of Australia.

Rosemary then joined a specialist food and agribusiness consulting firm and has been providing business management and strategic planning services to the food and agribusiness sector for more than 15 years.

She established Bowman Richards and Associates in 1997 and has assisted a range of public and private companies, industry organisations and government departments to develop market and business growth strategies.

Rosemary has worked with a number of grains industry organisations such as the Australian Grain Exporters Association (AGEA), Australian Oilseeds Federation, Australian Bulk Handlers Association and Grain Trade Australia (GTA).

She was executive director of the AOF for around 10 years and during that time helped build it into a fully integrated value chain organisation that is recognised as the peak industry body.

Rosemary is currently the chair of the Grains Industry Market Access Forum, executive director of the Australian Grain Exporters Association and a member of the GTA Trade and Market Access Committee.

Rosemary has also represented the agricultural industry in the international arena.

With AOF, she was a member of the International Association of Seed Crushers Council (IASC) and IASC executive committee and currently represents AGEA as a participant in the International Grain Trade Coalition.
