Agribuzz with David Leyonhjelm

Ridiculous! ANY animal would be unhappy in a cage- out of sunlight and without the ability to perform basic instinctual behaviours- in comparison to one that roams free! That is a no brainer! Exactly what reserach are you quoting David? What a crock of crap.

" I can’t think of a farmer or contractor I’ve worked with in the UK or Australia that pulls on their boots in the morning and thinks about “feeding the world” or that the reason they do what they do is because of the benefit to the human race". Could not have said it better myself Sam. Wake up ag industry.....listen to what the consumers want and be honest about your practices. They will make or break your survival.

C'mon. Seriously. Nazis? Let's look at this factually. The cruelty existed. The footage shows that. In fact, old man Giles himself confirmed that the cruelty was undeniable in an interview on 30 Nov 2011. So, rather than blame AA, who actually had NOTHING to do with this except to pass the footage on (which is what they are legally obliged to do), why don't you talk to PrimeSafe. They are the ones who shut the abbatior down! I agree, shutting it down was an over reaction. But mate, seriously, place blame where it is due rather than clutching at straws for an opinion piece.

Agribusiness

Another opportunity to grapple at straws Colin??? The funding was actually used to ensure sound input into the government's agriculture, environment and science portfolios as part of their role as a peak lobby group. I think the saddest issue with this funding cut is a number of collaborative animal welfare initiatives - yes, collaborative (Govt, industry and welfare) will no longer proceed. As Katrina stated though, Animals Australia has never needed this to continue their work. The public, who are awake to industry practices, support them wholeheartedly.

Well said kewally. I have no intention of giving up meat, but there is no way I'd support industries that treat animals in such an appalling manner. If these farms acted with integrity instead of the bulldust lines they feed the media and the community about how much they care - yadda yadda - then there would be no need for anyone to break in and video their cruel practices. Consumers are awake to factory farming and they don't like it. If these farms continue doing what they have aways done, it will be their own demise. They have only themselves to blame.
