Great to see that agriculture has a powerful forward thinking motivated minister! Too many in the populace take agriculture for granted. Hopefully Barnaby and Joel can even come together on common ground for the common good of the nation.
Hi Katherine, I did not say mining or CSG is beneficial to me or my farm, in fact the mining boom has created a shortage of labour and increased costs. myself and my forbears have purchased the right to farm, I believe I am doing so in a sustainable way which many are not. Others have purchased the right to explore and mine. I believe I can coexist with them as has happened in the past. I also know many farmers in areas you have mentioned that have benefited greatly from mining on their land and have nothing negative to say. If you don't want mining put up and buy the mineral rights.
As a farmer on the Liverpool Plains I am appalled that these activist farmers claim everyone supports them when this is not true. I am shocked that they are so happy to unite with the greens who have fought to and intend to destroy agriculture in Australia. Just because you agree on one issue does not mean you should abandon your morals. Anyone who stops anyone going about their lawful work with lockboxes and such should feel the full brunt of the law, and be financially responsible for costs and damages incurred. There are many I know on the Liverpool Plains that do not oppose CSG.
