Get Muddy

VivKay your comment above is not true, Ainimals Australia put a great amount of pressure on the weak Federal Government of the day to ban live export of cattle to Indonesia after a poorly researched second rate program on 4 corners. There is absolutely no evidence of horrific illtreatment of livestock to any of our markets and the slaughtering process is generally of a very high standard

Agribusiness

Australian consumers of food products have come to expect these products to be supplied at cost, but the wheel is turning and food products are about to be as expensive here as they are anywhere in the world. It is similar to our fuel prices where the government of the day imposed taxes to bring our prices up to global prices and called it " world parity pricing"
Wonderful news, Well done Tony and others, 8% on beef in the first year should make us more than competitive with the US and it only gets better from there
and "daw" how about if they also told the truth for a change

What I find very hard to understand is the fact that the greens expect the government to pay bigger and ever bigger social payments to all and sundry but at the same time they would close down almost every income generating activity in the country. They dont like mining and they hate primary producers of every sort. Can they tell us how we are expected to maintain our wonderful standard of living
Good on you Barry, I am so glad you were selected to the Senate. I listened to your maiden speech and I thought it was one of the best I have ever heard, your speech was clear and articulate and very well presented. I am sure you will be a great advocate for the rural sector. Good luck and best wishes
As hot as it may have been in 2013, I remember the heatwaves as a child growing up in western Qld as being much hotter. I wonder if the BOM recording abilities have changed over the years
Lee Rhiannon just does not get it, she just cant understand that some countries do not have reliable constant power for refrigeration for their people so these people must have access to freshly killed meat on a regular basis. More northern meatworks is not going to help their plight, and these proposed works will not get enough killable cattle to be viable. The answer could be to build build more modern works in Indonesia and process the cattle there, but this idea introduces problems as Indonesia is not bovine TB free so there would probably be restrictions where this meat could go

Livestock

Wilkie needs to be put back in his box and he should learn how well treated animals are treated on the boats. Wilkie must be a puppet for the meatworkers union but he should try and represent his constituents in Denison, Tasmania

Peter, what is barbaric with exporting live export ?, the animals are well cared for on the ships. To ban live export would exclude hundreds of thousands of people from their protein source, please remember that a large number of people on this planet dont have access to reliable power, therefore need access to daily freshly processed meat
